Coda Music Technology Reduces Price of Finale

January 18, 1996

Coda Music Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: COMT) is announcing they are reducing the suggested retail price of Finale, the world's leading music notation software, from $749 to $545 - a reduction of more than $200 - effective December 18, 1995.

This strategic move is the followup punch to the tall release of major product upgrades from Coda: Finale 3.5 for Windows 'M in August and Finale 3.5 for Macintosh(TM) in October. New features and improvements in both products make Finale much easier to use and, according to Coda, have been well received.

"The reduction in price, coupled with the high emphasis on ease of use and dynamic capability, will give substantially more people access to Finale," said Ron Raup, President of Coda Music Technology. "The recent Finale upgrades are loaded with powerful features and enhancements that increase overall productivity and creativity, and generally reduce the time needed to achieve dramatic results."

As the industry standard, Finale has won five consecutive World Class Awards from MacWorld magazine and more industry awards than any other notation program. PC Magazine has described Finale for Windows (TM) as "the most powerful music notation package available for microcomputers."

New features and enhancements found in both upgrades are extensive. Highlights of Finale 3.5 for Windows include Multi-Track recording in Hyperscribe, which allows users to enter new music while listening to previously recorded tracks: Smart Slurs that take the guess work out of placing slurs so less time is spent editing and more time creating; and Drum Mapping, which makes it easy to link notes played on a MIDI instrument to any position on any staff for accurate playback and exact percussion notation. Finale for Macintosh, now in native code for Power Macintosh to maximize speed, includes Page Layout enhancements for more control over how the page looks and prints; Drum Mapping, OHMS (TM) (Open Midi System), which provides playback through more than one MIDI instrument and playback through 64 MIDI channels-twice as many as before- and Retranscribe, which lets a user renotate any section with different quantization settings all with one command.

Coda Music Technology is the world's leading provider of high quality music notation software for professional and amateur composers, arrangers, copyists, music educators, students and church musicians. Coda is also the developer of Vivace(TM) a complete, easy-to-use personal practice companion that offers professional accompaniments for an extensive repertoire catalog of music in a variety of styles. Vivace features the breakthrough, patented technology, Intelligent Accompaniment(TM), that actually listens to and follows the soloist's tempo changes, just as a human accompanist would. Coda's products are distributed through music products retailers in the U.S. and abroad.
