Tascam introduces its new M2600 MKII Recording Console. The M2600 MKII is the successor to the company's original M2600 series, providing all the features of the M2600 while adding a meter bridge, switchable -10 dBv or +4 dBm signal levels for tape in and group / direct outs, increased trim control range, improved EQ and power supply enhancement.

The most visually noticeable difference on the new M2600MKII is the ability to add the optional, MU-2600 Series meter bridges. Available in 16, 24 or 32 channel configurations, these new meter bridges bring a new level of visual feedback to the mixers and helps keeping track of all those levels easier than ever.

When the user requires a recording console with the versatile ability to operate with both -10 and +4 signal levels, the M2600 MKII delivers. Each 8 channel block of the M2600 MKII has its own -10 dBv / +4 dBm throw switch, enabling you to configure the mixer to whatever arrangement best suits your requirements. The M2600 MKll's Tape In and Group / Direct Out jacks are 1/4" TRS, making the M2600 MKII a breeze to integrate into any studio environment.

In order to accommodate +4 dBm signals without the need for engaging the Pad switch, the M2600 MKII control range of the mic amp Trim control has been increased 2 dB. This seemingly small change makes a significant difference in eliminating any possible noise and greatly improves the console's signal-tonoise ratio.

While the original M2600 offered one of the most flexible and musical sounding EQ sections available, the M2600 MKII goes one step further. By adding new op amps and implementing new refinements to the EQ circuitry, the M2600 MKll's EQ is even more transparent, natural sounding and musical than ever.

The M2600 MKll's power supply has also been refined to add increased dynamic range to the system while the console's talkback provisions have also been improved. The result is a recording console that is both easier to use and offers tremendous headroom.

As with original M2600, the new M2600 MKII offers a visually intuitive assortment of color coded knobs and two-tone push switches "Smart Switches" that make it easy to ascertain what's engaged and what isn't. Combine these features with the smooth, long throw 100mm faders and a "special" rubberized paint on the palm rest and other areas of the mixer, and it becomes immediately clear that the M2600 MKII is the result of recording and engineering experience and constant improvement, that is mark of TASCAM.

For the recording enthusiast, the difference between a general purpose mixer and a true recording console like the M2600 MKII becomes clear the moment you start working. With direct outs that eliminate repatching, mute switches in the Monitor path, full 4 band EQ accessible in the Monitor path and a Control Room section that rivals the flexibility of far more expensive consoles, and great sound, TASCAM's new M2600 MKII is clearly the best choice in the 8 buss class.

Suggested retail prices are, $3,199.00 for the M2600 MKII / 16, and the optional Meter Bridge is $849.00, $3,999.00 for the M2600 MKII /24 and the optional Meter Bridge is $999.00, and $4,999.00 for the M2600 MKII / 32 and the optional Meter Bridge is $1,199.00. These new M2600 MKII consoles are the perfect compliment to today's new generation of digital recorders.
