Lexicon Dual Reverb Card for PCM 90 January 16, 1997
Lexicon, Inc., leading manufacturer of digital effects processing for live performance and studio applications, is proud to announce the Dual Reverb Card, the first expansion card for the PCM 90 Digital Reverberator. The Dual Reverb Card provides powerful split control of Lexicon's world class PCM 90 reverb algorithms. The card contains 10 completely new algorithms and 200 all new presets. Also included are 10 "blank slate" presets representing each algorithm. The new algorithms provide all new combinations of reverb effects, as well as a new surround reverb algorithm.
The Dual Reverb Card's 200 presets almost double the amount of presets and more than double the amount of algorithms in the PCM 90, making available a vast selection of superb quality reverb effects. The presets are organized in four banks, by application, and include: Music Production, Live Sound, Audio Post Production and Surround Sound.
The 10 Dual Reverb algorithms are made from combinations of four reverb blocks: Chamber, Inverse, Room 2, and Surround Chamber. These reverb blocks are specially ordered on the card to create 6 dual reverb and 4 cascade configured stereo effects.
The Inverse block comes to the PCM 90 by way of Lexicon's powerful PCM 80 Digital Effects Processor. The Inverse block excels in gated and unnatural reverb effects, in addition to creating small, lively environments. The Matrix Chamber algorithm is based on a dual reverb combination of Chamber and
Surround Chamber. When decoded through a surround decoder, this algorithm
creates rich, powerful surround reverbs that envelop the listener. PCM 90 owners will be familiar with algorithms containing the Chamber and Room 2 reverb blocks.
In the tradition of FX Cards for the PCM 80, the PCM 90 Dual Reverb Card takes full advantage of the wide range of control options offered within the PCM 90. With Dynamic Patching functionality, the user can modulate any parameter with an LFO, and sync those modulations to the tempo of the music. It is also possible to vary modulations dynamically, based on how hard the instrument is played, and of course the delays can be synchronized to tempo.
Stated Lexicon's Director of Product Management Steve De Furia, "The Dual Reverb Card is the logical next step in the PCM 90's evolution. The PCM 90 platform was designed from the very beginning to allow effects to be added as
they are developed. The new Dual Reverb Card offers a wide range of additional reverbs, further enhancing the unit's capabilities. The end result is a unique reverb box with the widest range of potential applications."
The Dual Reverb Card extends the already powerful capabilities of the PCM 90 and continues Lexicon's commitment to product longevity through software upgrades. It offers more stunning, realistic digital reverbs from the company who has been creating it for over 25 years. With the addition of the Dual Reverb Card, the PCM 90 Digital Reverberator remains the most powerful and versatile digital reverberator in it's class.
The PCM 90 reverb algorithms derive their heritage from Lexicon's legendary 480L and 300 models. The PCM 90 features 250 presets, 18-bit A/D and 20-bit D/A converters and a 24-bit internal digital bus. Its unique dual-processor architecture allows unparalleled flexibility in reverberation quality and control. The PCM 90 also offers Balanced Analog I/O (XLR & 1/4") and Digital I/O (S/PDIF).
