PRESS RELEASE

Lexicon MPX 1 Multi-Effects Processor

January 16, 1997

Lexicon, Inc., leading manufacturer of digital effects processing for live performance and studio applications, today unveiled the latest and most powerful multiple signal processor to date in its highly successful line of affordable Performance Series professional products. The MPX 1 Multiple Processor FX takes processing into the future with leading edge internal microprocessor control, intuitive user interface features and Lexicon's award winning sound.

At the heart of the new MPX 1 is Lexicon's Multiple Processor FX technology featuring 2 independent microprocessors - the proprietary Lexichip for the world's best reverb and a separate DSP chip for additional effects. Unlike other multi-effects processors, there's never a sonic compromise in reverb programs with the MPX 1, even in the most complex multi-effects programs.

The Lexicon MPX 1 allows you to configure reverb, pitch (mono or stereo), chorus (including flanging, phasing and comb filtering), EQ (mono 4-band or stereo 2-band with sweeps and wah-wah effects), delay (mono, stereo and dual) and modulation (including auto-panning and tremolo), individually or up to five simultaneous stereo effects with total flexibility.

All programs and parameter adjustments can be accomplished easily and precisely via the MPX 1's unique new interactive front panel interface that literally guides you through any operation.

Graphic displays make effect ordering and routing flexible and straightforward with the simple "drag and drop" approach employed in Lexicon's unique design. The lighted front panel features a full readout status display and effects banks can be turned on or off at the touch of a button. The MPX 1 is so intuitive that you can do this without ever having to consult a manual, accessing 56 preprogrammed effects and up to 200 editable factory programs instantly. For immediate help, there's an active "press and hold" Help system which displays user function information by simply holding down any button.

The Lexicon MPX 1 also features Library Sort, Search and Show - an exclusive database search and sorting function with multiple search criteria to help store, organize and recall your programs fast; unique Tempo Modes including Tap Tempo and MIDI clock control; individual effect bypass; mix and level controls and soft parameters for easy fine tuning of any program; comprehensive connectivity via balanced XLRs, 1/4 inch analog, digital (S/PDIF) connectors; full MIDI functionality; A/B Glide assignable as a continuous controller; direct footswitch and foot controller inputs for pedals; universal power supply and much more.

Lexicon Vice President of Sales and Marketing Steve Krampf commented, "Expect the convenience of multi-effects with the performance of individual effects processors from our new MPX 1. We feel that we've designed the definitive multi-effects box. This is the one."

At a suggested retail price of $1,299.00, the MPX 1 incorporates years of Lexicon research, experience, and forward-looking DSP technology assembled in a definitive product, immediately usable by musicians and studio pros alike.
