Roland RD-600 Digital Piano January 16, 1997
Roland is proud to introduce the perfect on-stage partner, the RD-600 Digital Piano. With stunning new piano sounds, 64-voice polyphony, 16 part multitimbral capability and an 88-note fully weighted keyboard, the RD-600 provides everything today's performers need in a MIDI-based digital stage piano.
The RD-600 maintains all of the basic design concepts of Roland's highly successful digital piano line. RD-600 features include an easy-to-use panel layout, acclaimed 3-band analog EQ and an award-winning PA-4 hammer action keyboard.
Expanding upon these popular features, the RD-600 incorporates a powerful 24MB of waveform memory (16-bit linear format) and 128 internal tones, among them some carefully selected patches from Roland's SR-JV80 Series Wave Expansion boards and the acclaimed VE-RD1 Piano Expansion board. The onboard stereo piano sounds are among the best piano sounds in the world, while the strings, bass and organ sounds provide the perfect sonic complement.
For use as a MIDI controller, the RD-600 can zone up to four keyboard ranges (2 internal/2 external), allowing for the control of external sound modules in conjunction with the internal tones. This feature is complemented by the addition of dedicated backlit Internal, External, Upper and Lower control buttons, as well as Tone Group, Category and Variation buttons which have two-colored LED's corresponding to Upper/Lower selection. This wealth of dedicated control buttons and LED's allows for speedy tone selection and streamlined operation.
Increasing ease of use dramatically, the RD-600 gives musicians a new 16 x 2 backlit LCD, which shows Upper/Lower tone names simultaneously, as well as a dedicated transpose button and four control sliders. The four sliders allow for easy modification of Part level, Envelope (attack, decay, release) and Bright parameters without entering sound edit mode - a great boon to realtime performance.
The RD-600 also boasts a new EFX set with acclaimed Roland reverb, chorus, and over forty multi-effects algorithms; an integrated new pitch bend/modulation lever for enhanced realtime sound control; and assignable expression pedal capability.
Built for professional touring and studio use, the RD-600 includes balanced XLR and 1/4" audio outputs, a universal power supply, and the lightweight, durable design made popular by the RD-500 - making the affordable new RD-600 Digital Piano the perfect on-stage partner.
