Roland SR-JV80-10 Bass and Drums Wave Expansion Board January 16, 1997
Wave Expansion Board increases the expressive capabilities of the XP-50, XP-80 and JV-Series instruments by offering over 200 patches and 240 bass and drum sounds meticulously recorded by world-class artists. Roland engineers took these recordings and created waveforms using sampling techniques available only to well-equipped professional studios. The result is a triple-scale, world-class rhythm section packed into an affordable expansion board that will work overtime for free.
Inserting the SR-JV80-10 into the XP-50, XP-80, JV-2080 or other
JV-Series instrument puts world-class studio musicians such as Abraham Laboriel, Marcus Miller, John Pattitucci, Abraham Laboriel Jr. and Bob Wilson right at your fingertips, literally.
Offering 8 megabytes (equivalent to 16 megabytes in 16-bit linear
format) of high-quality, multi-layered studio samples, each sample can be
edited and stored as a new sound internally, then recalled manually or
via MIDI.
Dynamic tonal control and instrument expression is created by
utilizing up to four tones accessed through velocity switch points. This
feature allows enhancement of existing samples with waveform nuances such as bass string noise, slides, harmonics, slaps and picks. Or with drum
samples, the velocity and crossfade parameters can be used together to
realistically simulate different drum and cymbal timbre characteristics - such as those created when a drummer strikes a drum or cymbal with varying dynamics in different areas of the instrument. Eight ready-to-use rhythm sets include intricate drum phrasings such as flams, rolls and rim-shots, all easily accessible from a keyboard.
In addition to the SR-JV80-10's drum samples, ten ready-made
acoustic drum phrase loops are offered. By using the drum loop feature,
a groove can be set and bass parts added to create slamming dance tracks or
funk grooves. Additionally, using the XP-80 and JV-2080's Tempo Sync function allows for convenient syncing with a sequencer.
The SR-JV80-10 brings world-class talent and editable features to XP-50, XP-80 and JV-Series users and further demonstrates Roland's continued commitment to JV-Series instruments.
