Alesis Introduces DM Pro 64 Voice 20 Bit Expandable Drum Module at Winter NAMM Show
January 29, 1998Alesis Corporation announced the introduction of their new DM Pro 64 Voice 20-Bit Expandable Drum Module at the winter NAMM show, according to Jim Mack, Alesis Vice-President of Marketing. The DM Pro will be available this spring with a suggested retail price of $899 (US).
"As a 64 voice drum module with expansion capabilities, along with the most advanced triggering system available, the DM Pro is the obvious choice for the most demanding percussion performance and MIDI applications," said Mack.
The DM Pro is the most advanced drum and percussion tool from Alesis. Like Alesis' award-winning D4 and DM5, the DM Pro is both a sound module for MIDI composers and a drum trigger module for electronic drum performances. The DM Pro outperforms other Alesis modules, however, with its 64 voice polyphony and an expansion slot so that new sounds can be added. Its 16 megabyte sound ROM contains over 1,000 different drum, percussion and special effect sounds. 64 virtual drumkits can be stored, each with 64 drum sounds. Up to four samples can be layered on each drum sound. The DM Pro also provides complete envelope control and onboard multieffects for customizing each drum sound. 16 trigger inputs are provided for use with electronic pads or acoustic drum triggers. The DM Pro offers six audio outputs for more detailed control over processing of discrete sounds.
Also, the DM Pro offers stereo audio inputs on RCA connectors so that drummers may connect external audiosources, like a CD player, for practice applications. The DM Pro will be offered along with the DM5 in Alesis' product line so that customers have both an affordable and a high-end solution for drum/percussion composition and performance.
