Pearl Upgrades Export SelectNew Boom Stand... New Snare Drum... New Finish... New Tom Holders... and $100 Price Decrease January 29, 1998Pearl is now including a B-800W Power Pro boom stand, a $109.00 retail value, with all 1998 ELX Export Select prepackaged drum sets. The B-800W features heavy-duty double braced legs, gear tilter, three sections, and boom arm with stop lock. The ELX's impressive hardware package also includes a P-100 chain-drive pedal, and Power Pro series C-800W cymbal stand, S-800W snare stand, and H-800W hi-hat.
The upgraded SS-514 (5 1/2"x14") steel snare drum is now standard. Patterned after Pearl's popular SensiTone snare drums, the SS-514 features newly designed CL-50 lugs with solid brass inserts and a beaded shell for increased strength, rigidity and projection. The SR-014N strainer uses "vertical pull" geometry to produce clean, choke-free snare response anywhere on the head from edge to center.
The ELX now features color matched bass drum hoops and a choice of six high gloss lacquer finishes including new #174 Amber Mist and #175 Scarlet Mist.
Top-of-the-line, TH-98I tom holders are now standard. The TH-98I feature infinite angle possibilities for exact tom placement. I.S.S. (Integrated Suspension System) tom brackets are also standard. By removing tom mounting hardware from the shells, I.S.S. allow the drums to vibrate freely for substantially improved resonance and sustain.
New ProTone heads are also standard. Made with high-grade polyester film, ProTone heads offer pro-quality sound and durability. ProTone bass drum heads feature built-in muffle rings for virtually "out-of-the-box" playability without additional muffling.
As if these improvements weren't enough, Pearl is also reducing the suggested list price of the five piece ELX 22D-5 set to $1,399.00, a $100.00 reduction from 1997! With a free boom stand, new snare drum, new finishes, matching bass drum hoops, suspension tom holders, great Pearl quality and lower price the new ELX is, without a doubt, the best in its class!
