Remo Introduces Renaissance Drumheads

January 29, 1998

The result of Remo's 40 years of dedication and experience as the world's drumhead specialist, Remo Renaissance Drumheads are history in the making -- combining Remo's performance-proven drumhead films with a new, technologically advanced coating to create a new quality of drum sound and performance. The exclusive Renaissance coating is applied using a proprietary process that permanently bonds the coating to the top and bottom of the film and will not degrade under even the harshest playing conditions. This new coating significantly increases the head's durability while providing a superior playing surface for sticks, brushes, multi-rods and mallets.

In addition, the Renaissance coating also acts as a natural filter that enhances the acoustics of each drum by bringing out more of the middle without decreasing the top or bottom ends of the drum's tonal spectrum. Players and listeners will immediately appreciate the deeper, richer, more full-bodied sound of all types of snare drums, tom- toms, bass drums and timpani equipped with Renaissance heads.

"The potential for Renaissance is unlimited," comments Remo's president and founder, Remo Belli. "Its unique characteristics allow it to be brighter and crisper than conventional heads in some ways, yet darker and warmer in others; making it desirable in many drumset, concert and studio situations as well as for world percussion applications. In fact, Renaissance may prove to be the ultimate drumhead in terms of tambourines and hand-drums. At this point we have only scratched the surface of what Renaissance technology will allow."

Following extensive research and field-testing, Renaissance heads are initially being offered as premium-grade Diplomat (thin), Ambassador (medium) and Emperor (heavy) weight 14" Snare Drum Batter and Snare Side heads as well as Custom Timpani heads with insert rings for 18 through 32 inch Timpani. According to Remo, as demand and production capacity increases, Renaissance heads will be offered for all drums, including 6 to 20 inch tom-toms and 18 to 40 inch bass drums.
