January 29, 1998

Remo, Inc. has announced the first of several scheduled introductions that will ultimately add nearly three dozen unique instruments to Remo's expanding World Percussion collection during 1998. Utilizing Remo's technologically advanced materials and manufacturing methods plus traditional drum designs, these new World Percussion instruments achieve new levels of authenticity and innovation.

Congitas and Vintage Congas

The classic sound, vintage appearance and easy playability of Remo's exclusive Vintage Conga makes it one of Remo's most exciting World Percussion introductions for 1998. The 29"x11" and 29"x11 3/4" congas feature an Acousticon shell with a PreTuned FiberSkyn 3 (TM) head that is tacked on for a vintage appearance and effect.

Remo Congitas are pretuned mini-congas developed to recreate a style of original Cuban drums that are both authentic sounding and fun to play. Offered in 10 and 12-inch diameters by 15 and 19-inch lengths, Congitas are available with special model 29-2124-09 double congita stands. Vintage Congas and Congitas are offered in new Purple and Burgundy as well as Multi-Mask and Fossil Fantasy FabriFinshes.

Glen Velez Signature Series Frame Drums & "Mondo Tars"

Designed by master-drummer Glen Velez, 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16-inch "Mondo Tars" feature pretuned Mondo heads and a shallow (2 1/2" frame with Earth finish- creating a series of hand drums that are lighter in weight yet wonderfully rich in traditional tonal qualities. In addition, Glen Velezs original Signature Series frame drums have now been expanded to include a choice of Natural or Lava Red Venwood finishes and an ingenious compact tuning system on the 4"x14" and 4"x16" and 4"x22" bodhran.
