Mods for ReBirthUsers
create their own techno sound and share it January
29, 1998 Steinberg GmbH, and Propellerheads of Sweden announce the availability of
"homegrown" modules(mods) for the acclaimed ReBirth 338 software program
for the Windows 95 and MAC OS platforms. ReBirth is a virtual synthesizer which
uses physical modeling to emulate the classic analog sound of two 303 Basslines
and one 808 Drum Machine. The authentic Techno sounds are calculated in realtime
on the computers host processor. Now users can develop their own mods and distribute
them These new mods, available on the Steinberg and Propellerhead web sites
include: - TechnoBox TB-909e by MacJunkie and Joy!peff, a more futuristic
rendition of ReBirth including customized TR-909 samples and other goodies.
- Masesn
RedTop by Tomas Holmstrom, inspired by 1950's Americana this is a cross between
a Cadillac dashboard and a pinball machine. Includes demo songs.
- An as yet
unamed mod from the French Techno duo Daft Punk will be available soon.
A
freeware "modmaker" application aptly named ReNovator was created by
freelance programmer Florian Bomers. ReNovator introduces an easy drag-and-drop
shell which allows the user to quickly create their own mod.For more information, visit their web site
