Powerful DG Technology to Premier in Guitar Combo Amp January 29, 1998
The ready-to-go Yamaha DG100-212 guitar combo amplifier is sure to turn a few heads at the January NAMM show. Last year's debut of the company's DG technology, housed in the DG-1000 guitar pre-amp, proved so successful that Yamaha designers transferred all its features into the new DG100-212 combo amp.
"The DG100-212 guitar combo amplifier is a guitarist's must-try product," states Jay Piccirillo, product specialist, Yamaha Corporation of America, Pro Audio & Combo Division, Guitar Department. "No simultaneous effects to hide behind, just 8 incredible sounding amplifiers in one versatile and easy-to-use box-complete with wicker grill cloth and Celestion speakers."
The DG100-212 combo's pre-amp section utilizes Electric Circuit Modeling (ECM) to allow re-creation of vintage tube sounds through physical modeling of electric circuits. With eight separate amplifiers in one unit, the DG100-212 is capable of simulating several distinct sounds, and its vintage-looking chicken head knobs are motorized to retain reference points. 128 slots are available to store amp settings in memory, without the unnecessary clutter of superfluous factory presets.
The DG100-212's exceptionally clean and quiet sound quality is due to its 20-bit (plus 5-bit floating) Analog-to-Digital (A/D) converter, and its 24-bit D/A. The DG100-212 has an incredibly fast sampling rate of 48KHz. Full MIDI implementation is another central feature and the DG100-212's speaker simulator becomes a great tool for direct-to-mixing board situations. The overall versatility of the DG100-212's wide range tone controls successfully tackles the tricky high and low mid zones to give the user wider sweet spots.
Brand new features in Yamaha's DG100-212 combo amp are two high-quality Celestion Vintage 30 speakers and three programmable (and saveable) reverbs for room, hall and plate. Additional highlights include an effects loop with volume level; direct out line (XLR) which can be used for both recording sessions and live performance; and physical modeling of a vintage-style tape delay. The DG100-212 Combo Amp arrives housed in a rugged chassis with removable castor wheels.
