HHB Launches Circle 1 Powered Subwoofer
January 28, 1999
HHB Communications launches the Circle 1, an advanced powered sub-woofer, at
the NAMM Convention. The Circle 1 is developed primarily to complement five
HHB Circle 5 monitors in a high performance, cost effective 5.1 surround sound
monitoring system.
The new Circle 1 sub-woofer employs a custom-designed 12-inch (300mm) low moving
mass, fast transient attack bass driver in a compact, bandpass cabinet to deliver
a detailed and controlled low-end response right down to 33Hz. The complete
absence of any limiting between the 100 watt amplifier ensures that the frequency
response remains balanced at all listening levels and an on-board fivechannel
active crossover enables the Circle 1 to be incorporated easily into either
stereo, 3.1 or 5.1 surround, monitoring systems without the need for additional
amplification or filtering. All inputs and outputs are on balanced XLRs, with
additional controls for Input Sensitivity, LF Boost and Phase.
Central to the design philsophy of the Circle range is the development of a
consistent sonic signature across all the speakers, making it easy to configure
accurate multi-channel monitoring solutions to match every application and budget.
"Our Circle 5s are already a huge hit with everyone who hears them, with
most people frankly amazed by how little they cost," says David Beesley,
president of HHB Communications USA. "Now, with the launch of the Circle
1 powered sub-woofer, we can offer our customers a professional 5.1 surround
sound monitoring solution at a price not previously associated with accurate,
high quality studio monitoring.
