January 28, 2000Martinsound, Inc. is announcing the introduction of a remote control unit for the MultiMAX(TM) multiformat monitor controller. The MultiMAX system may be connected to any 8-bus (or larger) mixing console to add comprehensive surround sound monitoring control in all popular surround formats, and will also add film-style post production capabilities to the mixing console. The remote will be shown for the first time at the NAMM Show, Los Angeles Convention Center, January 28 31, 1999.
The remote control unit is available as either a standalone box or as a panel for installation in a mixing console or desktop. MultiMAX input and output configurations may be programmed for each session through the remote's LCD screen, which provides access to the setup menus. Switches allow full control of the monitoring functions, while easy-to-read graphics on the LCD screen and LED indicators on every switch display the monitor signal path at a glance.
MultiMAX offers switch selection of any matrix encode-decode system or processor, provides monitoring before and after processing, and permits compatibility checking between all popular formats. There are connections for an 8-channel wide processor send, a 4:2:4 send and a stereo downmixed send, plus an 8-channel processor return and a stereo return. The surround formats of the wide sends and wide returns are programmable for 7.1, 5.1 or LCRS operation. Downmix coefficients may also be programmed.
MultiMAX facilitates comprehensive control of 4 monitor loudspeaker systems. The configuration of the 2 main systems may be programmed separately for 7.1, 5.1 or LCRS, with switch selection between 2 associated surround speaker systems. A stereo nearfield or a mono speaker system may alternatively be selected. Bass redirection within the 2 main systems is programmable. MultiMAX maintains the mixing console's stereo or LCRS control room monitor outputs and solo functions regardless of the monitor speaker system selected.
A pink noise generator is included for speaker calibration. Bandpass-filtered pink noise is provided for the calibration of limited bandwidth loudspeakers. Each speaker channel may be individually trimmed, and there is an overall level control with master mute and dim switching. The LCD screen provides a readout of the loudspeaker SPL, plus the master dim level. Additional switches control individual speaker mute and solo functions.
Film-style mixing is accommodated with switching for PEC/Direct (tape/bus or playback/record) monitoring. Three 8-channel premix inputs may be monitored individually or in any combination, without using up mixing console inputs. For film music scoring applications a mono production track may be introduced for reference via its own level control.
All inputs and outputs terminate in Tascam-standard, 25-pin D-Sub connectors on the rear of the MultiMAX rack unit. Connections are included for meter outputs and external logic inputs.
List price for the MultiMAX is $2,795. The optional remote control is $1,000. Visit Martinsound on the web at www.martinsound.com. |
