Roland's VS-880/1680 to Include Liquid Audio
SoftwareOwners Will Now Have Tools Necessary To Publish Songs on Internet January 28, 1999Roland Corporation U.S., the company that introduced
the world's most successful digital audio workstations- the V-Studio Series-and
then gave VS users the ability to burn their own CD's, has now partnered with
Liquid Audio to help enable musicians to publish their songs on the Internet.
Through this exclusive partnership, Roland will be providing musicians with
a "total solution" for recording and publishing their music for the
first time ever. Liquid Audio's Liquifier Pro, professional Internet mastering
software, will be bundled with Roland's VS-1680 and VS-880EX Digital Studio
Workstations in the second quarter of 1999. The software supports both PC and
Macintosh platforms to appeal to the widest audience possible.
Using the Liquifier Pro software, V-Studio owners will have the opportunity
to publish their song to a free 45-day introductory account on the Liquid Music
Server, and have it available over the Internet. In addition to CD-quality audio,
Liquifier Pro allows the VS owner to include album art, liner notes, lyrics
and credits which will appear in the Liquid Music Player. (The Liquid Music
Player is free client software downloadable from Liquid Audio's Website at www.liquidaudio.com).
The published song, or "Liquid Track," will be available for preview
and download from a special Website set up for V-Studio users. Users can also
make the Liquid Track available on their own Website. If the V-Studio owner
does not already have their own Website, a link will be provided to a site where
a free Web page can be created.
Once the 45-day introductory period has expired, users can extend their account
through a special low-cost upgrade program exclusively for Roland users. By
upgrading their account, V-Studio owners can take full advantage of the many
features of Liquid Audio, including the ability to sell their songs over the
Internet.
Planning is underway to allow existing V-Studio owners to also take advantage
of this special offer. Details will be announced at a later date.
