Steinberg and Propellerhead Software are happy
to announce version 1.7 of the award winning application ReCycle, for MacOS
and Windows 98/NT.
Since its introduction ReCycle has become an industry standard for anyone working
professionally with drum loops. The application can be heard in professional
productions in practically all musical styles comprising looped drum elements:
dance, hip-hop, r&b, techno, industrial, etc. It has even been said that
the program has helped form loop intensive musical styles such as drum'n'bass
and jungle.
ReCycle prepares drum loops for use in samplers by analysing and slicing them.
It then creates the necessary audio elements and transfers them to the sampler
and at the same time saves the required MIDI sequencer data to disk.
The effect of this is that the loop becomes tempo independent, that you can
edit its components freely to "rebuild" the loop, and that the timing
information in the recording (the musician's "groove" and "feel")
can be applied to other (sequenced) elements of the music.
Version 1.6 ReCycle introduced the highly acclaimed REX format, which expands
the use of the program to Audio Tracks in Cubase VST. With REX files, VST users
can take advantage of ReCycle, without owning a sampler. More and more content
suppliers will support the REX file format in the future.
With version 1.7, ReCycle has been completely rewritten from the ground upward
as a preparation for future major enhancements. Version 1.7 features a revised
and enhanced user interface and is faster and easier to use. A number of sampler
drivers have been added; now all the industry standard samplers are supported.
Sampler test routines and troubleshooting tools have been implemented as well
as SoundFonts (PC only) and REX-File export (as introduced on the Macintosh
platform in 1997). The application is now 32-bit, supports long file names and
DirectX audio playback as well as featuring native Windows 98/NT SCSI-support,
including support of multiple host adapters.
ReCycle 1.7 will be available in Q2 1999. The update from Version 1.6 is free
of charge and available as a download from www.steinberg.net
