Tama SC Performer: The Birch is Back

1999 Winter NAMM show saw the unveiling of a new Starclassic Performer set with
a 100% birch shell. "In the 80's, intermediate priced sets like were a big seller,"
commented Koji Kamada of Tama USA. "The the bottom dropped out. But thanks to
significant spec increases with insignificant price increases, our Starclassic
Performer set changed all that. Our 1999 Performers now feature birch shells,
a wood that was also popular in the 80's pro drums like our old Superstars.
With that improvement plus hardware upgrades such as a new bass drum pedal and
