Digidesign Announces Launch of DigiProNet.comWeb-based production services for audio professionals June 7, 2001
Digidesign, a division of Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ:AVID), announced the launch of the Digidesign Production Network (www.digipronet.com), a comprehensive suite of online services, business resources and collaboration tools for audio professionals. The services available on DigiProNet are designed to save the company's customers both time and money by dramatically expanding creative options and streamlining audio production workflow.
"The launch of DigiProNet extends our award-winning Pro Tools production environment beyond the desktop to include a worldwide community of musicians, engineers, and producers," says Dave Froker, General Manager of Digidesign. "By giving artists the power to collaborate without boundaries, Digidesign and Pro Tools will continue to have a profound effect on the recording industry."
Joining Digidesign are several key partners including AvidProNet.com, Rocket Network, The Hollywood Edge (a division of Livewire Studios/Soundelux), LicenseMusic.com, Sonomic and FastChannel Network, Inc. "With these strategic alliances, Digidesign provides a variety of web-enabled production services right out of the gate," says Heidi Elgaard, Business Development Manager. "Artists and studios who are part of the DigiProNet community will have new creative options. Soon, the concept of 'production values' will expand to include not only an artist's skill or the quality of a studio's recording services, but how well they are connected to a worldwide network of creative resources."
At its initial launch, services offered on DigiProNet include AudioMarket, an online store for licensed music, sound effects, and audio samples; AudioPages, an online directory of audio production professionals, business resources, and facilities; ProServices, a series of services that allow online review and approval as well as commercial distribution of audio projects; and My DigiProNet, a web interface that allows users to customize industry news feeds and manage their Digidesign Production Network accounts.
In addition, DigiProNet will include DigiStudio, a web-based recording environment and talent registry. With the upcoming release of Pro Tools 5.2 software this summer, Pro Tools users will be able to find other artists and engineers online and set up global recording sessions directly over the Internet. "With the ability to exchange rich session data with other Pro Tools users all over the world, customers will not only save travel and postage costs, they'll work more efficiently," says Elgaard. "DigiProNet is a significant addition to Avids greater Make, Manage, and Move Media strategy." For more information, visit their web site at www.digipronet.com. |
