Berklee Guitar and Bass Lessons to be Offered via Line 6's GuitarPort August 22, 2002
Line 6 and Berklee College of Music announced today they have entered into an agreement enabling Line 6 to deliver Berklee's world-renowned guitar and bass curriculum through GuitarPort, Line 6's computer-based jamming and learning tool.
Under the terms of the agreement, Berklee will provide Line 6 with a multitude of its online musical instructional programs and lessons for guitar and bass guitar for use through GuitarPort. The interactive lessons were developed by top instructors and include varying combinations of play-along audio files, lead sheets, tablature, notation and text.
"From the Berklee perspective, we are very excited to work with Line 6 to reach an audience of aspiring guitar players through GuitarPort, one of the most amazing pieces of music technology that we've seen in a long time," said David Kusek, associate vice president for Berklee Media. "GuitarPort is one of the best examples of utilizing innovative technology to teach performance related skills."
The new lessons and programs are designed for guitarists and bass players of all skill levels from beginner to advanced. The instructional programs for guitar include:
"Instant Guitar" (day one beginner); "Berklee Practice Method Guitar" (novice); "Jim Kelly's Guitar Workshop" (intermediate to advanced); and "More Jim Kelly's Guitar Workshop" (intermediate to advanced). Lessons for bass guitar include: "Instant Bass" (day one beginner); "Berklee Practice Method Bass" (Novice); "Rock Bass Lines" (beginner through advanced); and "Slap Bass Lines" (beginner through advanced).
In addition to traditional guitar instruction, the "Jim Kelly Workshops" teach guitarists how to play in the different styles of their favorite artists. Artists include Wes Montgomery, Kenny Burrell, Mike Stern, Pat Metheny, Joe Pass and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
