D'Andrea Inc. celebrates its 80th year of designing and producing guitar
accessories with the acquisition of Snarling Dogs brand of Wah Pedals and
Retro Stomp Boxes and all related trademarks.
According to Company President and CEO Tony D'Andrea "We saw this as a once
in a lifetime opportunity to acquire an exciting brand name in guitar
effects
pedals. We intend to continue to expand upon Charlie Stringers vision for
creative and unique guitar pedals and accessories."
The company also announced that the original designer of Snarling Dogs
Wah Pedals, Kenny Segall, has been retained to continue engineering new sound machines. When you go to the Snarling Dogs website, it's Kenny's voice and guitar playing that lets you hear the effects.
A partner in Jersey Technical Electronics, Kenny is an expert in audio engineering and has been working around the lab all his life. Always fascinated by the creation of sounds, he's designed and engineered the Snarling Dogs line, and invented new ways to reproduce and create guitar sound effects with pedals.
Even the unique look of Snarling Dogs pedals was inspired by Kenny. As the story goes, Kenny was down at the speed shop one day in the mid-90s where he picked up a foot-shaped accelerator pedal so popular in the fiftys. Back in the engineering lab, he attached it to a wah he was experimenting with. The feel of it was comfortable and the look of it was very cool. He and Charlie Stringer, the founder of the Snarling Dogs Strings and Effects, brought it to a NAMM show for fun. There was such an enthusiastic response that the foot became the trademarked look of the Snarling Dogs pedal design. For more information, visit their web site at www.snarlingdogs.com. |
