Berkleemusic.com Offers On-Line Class for GarageBand

Berkleemusic.com, the online extension
school of Berklee College of Music, announced that it will offer a
new online course in the popular audio editing program, GarageBand, for its
Fall 2004 semester.
Rather than focusing on the technical and strictly functional aspects of
GarageBand, Berkleemusic's online course is structured to allow students to
learn and apply Berklee's writing, arranging, and production
techniques to this powerful program. The Berkleemusic learning environment
also offers the unique opportunity for musicians to collaborate with Berkee
faculty and other students from anywhere in the world in real time.
Says Berklee instructor Stefani Langol, "What really sets this course apart
from any other GarageBand instruction is that it's a music course, more than
a technology course. While students will certainly learn to master the
programs and features for recording and processing, more importantly, they
will learn how to use it in a way that allows them to express their own
music."
GarageBand is used by professional and developing musicians alike. Musicians
use it to create dance tracks for clubs, to contribute additional parts for
bands in a live setting, and as a powerful tool in the classroom.
Berkleemusic's GarageBand course is designed to expand upon these creative
uses and possibilities.
Berkleemusic offers more than 30 online courses in areas including
production, songwriting, music business, music theory, and performance. Over
1,600 students from 55 countries have enrolled in the online school since
its inception in 2003.
